Police Department

It is with great pride that the men and women of the Edmundson Police Department serve the citizens of Edmundson as well as those passing through our fine city.  Our hope is to create a customer friendly environment while enhancing the safety and quality of life of those whom we come into contact.

The Edmundson Police Department is comprised nine commissioned officers, a records clerk, a crossing guard and three police reserves.  Within this grouping are; one chief, two sergeants, one detective, one traffic officer, and four road officers.  All officers maintain a POST (Police Officer Standard Training) Class A certification as well as certification in a variety of other disciplines.

The Edmundson Police Department vehicle fleet is made up of four patrol vehicles which are or will be equipped with an in-car video system, radar units and computer.  These vehicles are set up to be the officer's "office" during their shift.

The Edmundson police officers work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, with supervisors having a set overlay shift wherein they have access to both day and night shift officers.  The detective works a flexible four 10-hour day schedule as does the traffic officer.

Our police department receives dispatching services through the City of St. Ann Police Department, we also contract with St. Ann for housing of those individuals awaiting trial on Edmundson municipal charges or awaiting pick up from other departments based on outstanding arrest warrants.

The City of Edmundson would like those who live in or visit our community to realize that our goal is to enhance safety.  To that end, traffic violations are vigorously enforced.  The speed limit within the entire city is 20 MPH, this limit was set with a number of safety factors taken into account, so that enforcement by the officers is encouraged and expected.

The City also has in place two red light photo enforced intersections, again to enhance the safety of those who live in and visit Edmundson.  The bottom line regarding these systems is really quite simple, obey the traffic signals and you will have no problems.

On behalf of the Edmundson Police Department, welcome to our website, welcome to our City and if we can be of service, please do not hesitate to call on us.  We can be contacted in many different ways:
